Speechwriter/Associate

I served as a speechwriter and communications consultant for the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). In this role, I primarily drafted speeches and talking points for FMCSA leadership. I also wrote blogs, articles, and other materials for the communications team while providing regular guidance on strategic communications for the agency.

October 2021 - January 2024

Deputy Communications Director

Prince George's County Government

Largo, MD 

I was promoted to the position of Deputy Communications Director for Prince George's County Government in October 2021. In this role, I was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the communications team, supervising eight team members. I was also the lead for media relations, planning multiple high-level press events and working directly with reporters on a daily basis. Finally, I served as a trusted communications advisor to senior leadership within government. 

May 2023 - September 2023

Acting Communications Director

Prince George's County Government

Largo, MD 

I took over as Acting Communications Director in May 2023 for Prince George's County Government when the previous Communications Director left for a new role. I was responsible for leading communications for a county of nearly one million residents. I was also the chief spokesperson for Prince George's County Government and managed team members who helped respond to media inquiries. Finally, I oversaw the rollout of several new communications initiatives and public officials who were hired during that time.

May 2022 - July 2022

Campaign Manager

Angela Alsobrooks for County Executive

Largo, MD 

In May 2022, I took a leave of absence from Prince George's County Government to serve as the Campaign Manager for Prince George's County Executive Angela Alsobrooks' re-election campaign. I managed a budget of nearly $1 million, hiring staff and consultants, filming and placing a TV ad, and coordinating a direct mail program to reach voters. In July 2022, Angela Alsobrooks successfully prevailed in the primary, receiving 91% of the vote against four challengers.

January 2019 - September 2021

Public Information Officer

Prince George's County Government

Largo, MD 

In January 2019, I joined Prince George's County Government as a Public Information Officer. In this role, I supported strategic communications and media relations for the executive branch of local government. I was responsible for writing talking points and speeches for senior leadership, while also managing government social media accounts. Finally, I managed communications campaigns for the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Census count, and the 2020 election. 

March 2018 - December 2018

Communications Manager, Finance Director, and Scheduler

Will Jawando for County Council

Silver Spring, MD 

I joined a local political campaign in Montgomery County, Maryland in March 2018, supporting fundraising, communications, and scheduling. I implemented new scheduling processes to help plan and execute more than 50 meet-and-greet events over three months. In addition, I managed call time and fundraising efforts to help the candidate become the top fundraiser in a field of 32 candidates. We ultimately won the primary and general election, with the candidate taking office as an "At-Large" Council Member for the county. 

September 2017 - March 2018

Press Intern

U.S. Senate Leader Chuck Schumer

Washington, D.C.

I served as a Press Intern in U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer's leadership office. In this role, I compiled press briefings for the Senator, recorded and transcribed all formal remarks, and helped monitor media coverage. In addition, I supported the Hispanic Media Team by translating articles and statements into Spanish.

August 2014 - June 2016

Spanish Teacher (Teach for America)

Charlotte, NC 

I served as a middle school Spanish teacher through Teach for America, where I taught three different levels of Spanish. During this time, I served on a district planning committee to develop a new curriculum for the Spanish for Native Speakers course, one of the classes I taught. In addition, I created and led school-wide professional development sessions on using new technology in the classroom.
